Enterprise Bargaining Discussions

On 23rd August the Union met with representatives of KR Castlemaine Foods Pty Ltd in Melbourne to discuss the company’s position in relation to negotiating an Enterprise Bargaining Agreement for Victoria.

At that meeting it was agreed that discussions would take place incorporating the following principles:

OVERALL PURPOSE

To enhance the long term viability and profitability of the business, thereby increasing job security for employees.

PRINCIPLES

The parties are committed to the following:

1.     Development of a workforce with sufficient flexibility to meet the changing needs of the business in the most efficient and productive way, while not compromising the quality of life of employees.

2.     Improvement of labour efficiencies and work practices efficiencies in order to maximize business performance, and the consideration of all practical and reasonable options for achieving such efficiencies.

3.     Establishment of a “culture of common purpose”, where both employees and the company are committed as joint stakeholders in business improvement.

4.     Enhancing employee satisfaction and well being.

5.     No agreement which may be reached will operate or cause any employee to suffer a reduction in ordinary time earnings.

The Company will be drawing up a document for the Union to consider as a starting point for negotiations.  A further meeting has been scheduled for 19th September.

The Union will keep you informed and involved in the decision making process as we advance the proceedings.
