Recommended Alimta be subsidised
In breaking news, it has been reported that The Federal Government's Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee has recommended that the asbestos cancer medicine Alimta should be subsidised.
The VTHC, unions and support groups have campaigned strongly to have Alimta subsidised by the PBS.
Alimta is used to relieve the symptoms of mesothelioma, which is a cancer caused by exposure to asbestos.
Last week, anti-asbestos campaigners Bernie Banton and Tony Medina (from Victoria) visited Tony Abbott's office to deliver letters seeking support for inclusion of the drug in the scheme.
Congratulations to all who have participated in this campaign!
